The Old Testament Prophets
The fifth part of our teaching series, Bible 101, taking a journey through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Tonight's session is lead by Sungjoo Aird.
At the end of each session there are a number of questions for discussion and these are reproduced below:
1. Jesus still speaks to us today. As the ultimate prophet, what kind of message do you think Jesus wants to communicate to us?
2. Jesus is coming as the Judge and glorious King. This has not been fulfilled yet someday He will certainly come back as He promised. How do you feel about this second coming of Jesus Christ as the Judge and the king?
3. Did you read the one of the books in the prophets? What did you feel about the book? What made you interested most about the book?

1.What can we learn about Saul’s experience of letting jealousy get in the way of leading our people and ourselves well? What things get in our way of treating people the way God wants us to?
2.How do we feel about situations like David’s desire to build a permanent Temple, where we have a strong desire to see something become a reality but never do? (We plant seeds but might never reap the harvest!)
3.Each of the kings started well, had great tools at their disposal, but ultimately fell short. How do we not only start well but continue to remain faithful in our pursuit of becoming more like Jesus every day?

People of the Spirit, Neil Watson.
Romans Chapter 8 v 5-11
For the 6 weeks through Lent we are focusing on Romans Chapter 8. In this session we look at how in Christ we can live a life that's focused on the Spirit.
But if God himself has taken up residence in your life, you can hardly be thinking more of yourself than of him. Anyone, of course, who has not welcomed this invisible but clearly present God, the Spirit of Christ, won’t know what we’re talking about. But for you who welcome him, in whom he dwells—even though you still experience all the limitations of sin—you yourself experience life on God’s terms.

2. How challenging do you find Abraham’s faith?
3. What does it mean for us that God choses such an unlikely leader as Moses for his people?
4. Why do you think that the Bible repeats the pattern of exile followed by a journey to another Eden?

Torn Between One Way and Another, Mark Nicholas.
Romans Chapter 7
In chapter 7 of Paul's letter to the church in Rome, Paul clarifies the relationship between ourselves, the law and sin.
For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it. I don't do the good I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do.

Prayer: Agonised Longings that Never Find Words, Maria Pilcher
Romans Chapter 8 v 8-28
We continue to delve into Paul's letter to the church in Rome as Maria picks up the theme of prayer from Chapter 8.
The Spirit of God not only maintains this hope within us, but helps us in our present limitations. For example, we do not know how to pray worthily as sons of God, but his Spirit within us is actually praying for us in those agonising longings which never find words.

Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea; Mark Nicholas.
Romans Chapter 6 v 1-12
Having reached Chapter 6 in our study of Romans which we began late last year, Mark expands on the teaching surrounding baptism.
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

In the Beginning: Genesis 1
The first of our teaching series, Bible 101, lead by Andrew Dick, taking a journey through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
At the end of each session there are a number of questions for discussion and these are reproduced below:
1. What difference does it make if creation from nothing happened before the six days of Genesis 1?
2. Do you think that God creating the earth as a Temple is a reasonable way of interpreting Genesis 1, especially in terms of how we might trace this theme throughout the rest of the Bible?
3. Does that God made a garden for his own Temple have implications for how we treat this planet?
4. If men and women represent God together, how does this impact on gender equality?
