Lent 2018: Who Is Really Blessed?

Mark Nicholas

Matthew Chapter 5 v 1-12

For the second week of our series on the Sermon on the Mount, we pick up on one of the most famous sermons ever preached by Jesus, commonly referred to as the Beatitudes. Through a series of seemingly contradictory statements, we learn who is really blessed.

Preparing for Lent, Mark Nicholas.

For the 7 weeks leading up to Easter 2018, we will be working through the Sermon on the Mount as depicted in the Gospel of Matthew. This week's message is by way of a 'trailer' anticipating what to expect over the coming weeks.

During the sermon, Mark played the first part of the Bible Project video "The Book of Matthew explained with illustrations". For copyright reasons, we can't include the audio in the podcast, but you can watch again here.

Big Wins 2017

Every January, we look back to some of the best moments of the previous year, in celebration of God's goodness and faithfulness.

Family fun days, Christmas lunches, Love Russia trip, Alpha course, the Marriage course, Bible 101, Adrian Plass, baptisms in the sea, renaming all our youth events, recruiting a new youth worker, climbing the Forth Rail Bridge, Myres Briggs, Christingle, finally finishing the book of Romans, Hogmaney party, Neil's ordination as minister of Belhaven and Spott, movie nights, growing and cooking our own potatoes, growing our own Children's Worship band, and, and, and......

I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done.

(Psalm 143 v 5)

The Greatest is Love, Mark Nicholas

1 Corinthians Chapter 13 v 1-13

Having spent advent Sundays looking at the theme of Hope and last Sunday discussing Faith, its no surprise that this week's message is about Love.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Faith - Mark Nicholas

Mark Chapter 2 v 1 to 12

Following on from our Advent theme of Hope, we spend this sunday morning looking at the subject of Faith and ask the question, "What do you have faith for in 2018?"

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

Hope, Mark Nicholas.

Isaiah Chapter 9 v 1-7

Our first message for 2018 and the final in our Advent series on the theme of hope.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor,[d] Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

One Day with Jesus, Mark Nicholas

Mark Chapter 5 v 1 - 43

For the third message in our Advent series on Hope, we spend one day in the company of Jesus and watch him as he calms a storm, confronts demons, heals a woman in a crowd and restsores life to a little girl who had died. Watching Jesus bring hope where otherwise there was none.

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine
